Loading... Did Jesus Christ have a twin brother named Judas? Was Judas Thomas Jesus Christ's twin younger brother? Or should the narrative not be taken literal? If so why?

Judas or whatever the Hebrew equivalent was, was a common name as was Jesus (Yeshua). Jesus' family expanded after his birth.(Luke 1:24) "Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him and took unto him his wife." (began to live with her)(vs. 25) "and knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name Jesus" (He did not have marital relations (KNEW her) until Jesus was born. A single birth. Then she began to produce children as listed in Matthew 13:55, James (also a writer of the book of James, Joses (Joseph-named after Joseph the dad), Simon (not Peter but same name) and Judas (not Iscariot or "from Cariot") That is another reason we know that Judas is no relation to Jesus is that he has the title Iscariot or "from Cariot". Jesus was from Nazareth where he was raised. A side point is that Jude (the book) is named after it's author Judas (another Judus that some feel is Jesus other brother born after him and listed in his family. He shortened his name to distance himself from the betrayer.)

"While Jesus was still talking to the crowd, his mother and brothers stood outside, wanting to speak to him" Matthew 12:46
"Isn't this the carpenter's son? Isn't his mother's name Mary, and aren't his brothers James, Joseph, Simon and Judas?" Matthew 13:55
"Now Jesus' mother and brothers came to see him, but they were not able to get near him because of the crowd." Luke 8:19.
"After this he went down to Capernaum with his mother and brothers and his disciples. There they stayed for a few days"
John 2:12
"They all joined together constantly in prayer, along with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brothers" Acts 1:14.
These are some of the scriptural references indicating that Jesus had siblings. However, there is no reference to a twin. On the contrary-
Matthew 1:23 tells us that Mary gave birth to a son (singular not plural)-
""The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel" —which means, 'God with us' "
All other siblings that Jesus may have had came after Mary and Joseph were wed and after the birth of Jesus. Biologically- they would be considered half brothers.

No Jesus did not have a twin brother. The Bible is the inspired word of God. It is to be taken as truth. Any interpretation to scripture should be filtered through the lens of the time in which it was written (historical perspective), to whom it was written, and what does it say to us today.

Biblically, Yahshua had no twin brother. He did have younger siblings. Joseph was not married before he married Mary (Miriam), and he did not have children with anyone else. If Joseph had any older children they would have had to have gone with him to Bethlehem for the census. Only Joseph and Mary made that journey. Yahshua is the eldest child, the eldest son.

No, Mary did not give birth to two Children, Matthew 1:18-23. Jesus did have a number of Half Brothers and sisters, who's father was Joseph. Jesus Christ is the Father's only first begotten Son, John 3:16-17.

I'm sorry to say, but it seems to me that you don't believe that God is telling us the truth.
If someone is telling me something that I later find out wasn't the truth, I wouldn't believe him the next time!
How can you believe in God if you don't believe that he's honest to us?
That's exact what Satan like to make us believe! He did it the first time in Eden. He told Eve that God didn't tell her the truth.
Which of them do you believe is telling the truth?
No there was no twin brother (period).
