A Son Mourns for His Father Poem
60
2008
My son was thirteen when he decided to write this poem. It was actually a school project, and the teacher was kind enough to save it for me. Otherwise, I would have known nothing about it. It is about his dad. His father committed suicide when Zachary was nine years old. I didn't realize he felt this way. It is amazing what can be discovered through poetry.
I, too, feel America
I am the kid who has no dad
I watch my friends
play and laugh with their dads
Some kids picked on me and teased me
Tomorrow
I'll be there still without a father
while yours grow older.
Besides
You'll feel my pain someday
when yours goes too.
I, too, feel America

OMG! My heart goes out to you and your son. This is a truly amazing poem. It is still tugging at my heart strings. What a beautiful title and ending. I'm not sure what more I can say, I am so touched with your sons ability to express his inner turmoil.
Hugs to you and Zach,
Sage

Lord Lovel wrote a poem of grief, where as the Lord did die from his grief, as your son yet, lives with his grief and so states It so eloquently! It is a most excellent poem for some one so young to put forth, it is awe inspiring in my opinion, I thank you for the share and I thank your son for the write, Donnie/ Sinbad the Sailor Man

Though it has few lines, this is a gripping poem. Your son is well versed for his age.
