The Not-so-Importance of Biblical-Prophecy

My Opinion

If you type in the words "what makes a prophecy," you get over 4.5 million website hits. Some of the websites are merely, self-promotional websites, and have very little to do with the protocols of prophecy. But then again the subject of prophecy can been so broad, that it makes it tough to find the good sites about biblical prophecy. However, after scrolling down through the links, I can across a hit named: believersweb.org. Believersweb.org's website seems to be a religious website, which provides theoretical sermons that are (in my opinion nonsense) designed to pressure their viewing audience into believing their particular ideology (just like they all do).

Like for instance, Believersweb says;

"Prophecy; is a message of judgment, because God’s people are constantly in need of correction. At the same time, it is a message of hope, for (God) has not broken His covenant and will complete His redemptive purpose... ," (as if any of that makes any sense).

Crap like this only aids in furthering my own opinions about prophecy, which is that it was devised by early man as a way to manipulate a group of people. Simply put, a scare tactic. I think stuff was made up in order to scare people into "walking a fine line." This method of manipulation, only solidifies my own personal feelings that biblical prophecy is nothing more than theoretical hogwash! I don't mean to be picking on Believersweb.org here either. As far as I can estimate, most of the other websites on prophecies, seem to handle the issue in the same way. I mean as far as I could tell- none of the sites that I uncovered, had anything solid to offer up as evidence in support of their prophecies. If there is so much truth to these prophecies, such as the doomsday prophecy, where is the hardcore facts? Why is everything so scripted, and yet very vague or lacking all the important details?

  • How I see It

Whether there is any real meaning behind biblical prophecy, or any other prophecies for that matter; it doesn't change the fact that prophecies are essentially someone's best guess estimate of what's to come. People only need to look at the famed seer Nostradamus, to know what I am writing here to be true. Not even he could exactly pinpoint one of his notorious prophecies. For example; was it Hister or Hitler?

Whether he was predicting the king of France's death or the rise and fall of Hitler(Hister); Nostradamus's predictions were nothing more than calculative word problems; which he made by using certain mathematical formulas, and combining them with a little astrology. Seeing how mathematics is considered the universal language, I feel that anyone with this know-how could have predicted the exact same things. Needless to say, there was no divine interceding taking place. Though some of his guesses were accurate, we still cannot dismiss the fact that over three-fourths of his predictions are nothing more than the poetic rantings of an old man.

The Dead End

Matthew 24:30-31 reads;

"And then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming upon the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. And he will send his angels with a trumpet blast, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of the heavens to the other."

I don't believe in biblical prophecy or Nostradamus. For years, certain religious people were telling us the world would end at the Millenium. 10 years later and we're still here.

For sure, Biblical Prophesy is 100% accurate, most people, watch too much TV and the distractions from the truth and true Prophecy, Like 2012 Mayan Prophecy which is a Mayan calendar, that has nothing to do with Prophecy, but we are told on TV that it is a time of destruction. Nostradamus is another distraction, from the truth. Nostradamus, was a Catholic Jew and was raised in both Jewish and Catholic religion, and all his writings are attempts to make sense of the Bible, and not one is accurate. More people are duped from TV than you realize. It is endless and guess what the Bible tells you that this would take place, called the "Lies of Satan".

Satan the serpent the dragon floods the world with his deception, from Evolution to UFOs and Aliens all distraction from the Truth

Rev 12:15 And the serpent cast out of his mouth water as a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away of the flood.

Rev 12:16 And the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed up the flood which the dragon cast out of his mouth

There is no excuse to doubt God though.

I think that if you read some history you would see that every Bible prophecy has come true, even some that Christians themselves have poo-pooed at. One that come to mind is the Jews coming back to Israel. So many preachers years ago that knew something of history and civilizations, knew it would be impossible to do what the Bible said would be done. They preached that it wasn't literal because they found it so unbelievable. Yet a dispursed people were gathered into a thriving country that rivals any in the world. Why? Because God said so. I know you wrote about that in another of your hubs, how some people thought to give God a hand in the prophecy, but however it was done, it WAS done. What was impossible was possible. And despite all the trying to destroy them and their land it has not been done. I know I must seem ridiculous to you believing in other prophecies but I know from 35 years of study that God's Word is true, even when it seems silly. I look forward to being caught up into heaven. That will be something else that everyone has said was impossible and silly. They think that Christians are stupid for thinking such things but one day it will happen. You know I love ya lady.

Hi'a IE.Did you know that the Closest scholars have gotten to Original scripture,from any of the Christian sects that existed at the time of Christ's death,are dated hundreds of years latter?Scribes were Not as proficient as computers so they made Lots of mistakes and even added and edited!We know this because copies from the earliest"Copies"we have evolve[content and number of books] in sec-ceding copies that have been found throughout history.I heard Prophecy was the ability to tell the future.If so...here's a prophecy:In the Future...The Bible will continue to evolve and shape it's self to the culture that possess it...A religion of Convenience:"For the Kingdom of Heaven is Within you".Thanks for letting me ramble.Liked this hub:)

Your hub simply assumes that Nostradamus is equal to Biblical prophecy. That is a completely foolish assumption given the fact that Nostradamus got lucky with maybe 5% accuracy whereas God's prophecy is 100%. The fact that you do not recognize that only shows that you have not investigated it.

There is a difference between God's true prophecy and everything else. You need to find out. Because if the Bible is right, than there is a God who loves you enough to seek you out and provide a way for you to have eternal peace, even though you are not seeking Him. But if you reject Him, there is no other cure for the 100% fatal disease of sin.

It is not an assumption, it is a comparison. BIG difference! But hey, I guess only us foolish people would know it. Shall I print the definitions of the two for you so you can be as smart as us foolish people? This way you won't look so smart, the next time you make such a BIG mistake.
