Congratulations!

In the spirit of your recent engagement, allow me to congratulate you on your impending marriage. How lucky you must feel! I imagine that you cannot wait to start looking for your wedding dress, and if this is true, well then you have came to the right spot.

Below here is a little poll I put together to help you the bride, find the perfect wedding dress for your big day. The poll itself is right underneath the gallery of bridal gown images, I have hand selected for this test. In addition, this poll is designed to give you a vast array of worldly opinions. Anything point of view is desired, however, points of view from other men might be the winning ticket, for finding the right dress. Good luck and I wish you and yours all the best.

My dear friend Bob gave me the idea for this hub of mine. He beautifully writes;

"My lovely wife and I had no wedding. We were married in the pastor's house with one friend of mine and the pastor's family in attendance. I can't imagine her in any of these beautiful dresses because even though they are beautiful, they wouldn't do her justice. It's hard to imagine any that would."

Bob went on to say that if he did get to choose a dress of his liking, it would be the "B dress," as seen on my "Flattering Wedding Dresses for Skinny Woman" hub. I found Bob's perspective very touching, and yet extremely valuable information for any other brides. In my own event planning, I never really thought about the man's perspective, when it came to wedding dress selection. Most brides, I am sure myself included, mostly cares about whether the dress is right and it happens to look on them. I think most of us brides, just presume if we like something, naturally our beaus will follow. However, as Bob pointed out that might not be necessarily true.

A Smart Choice;

When I first got married in 1994 to Mr. Charles Knippel, I distinctly remember asking for his input. Bucky being Buck, actually sat down with me one day, and scrounged through some of my Bridal magazines that were worn from handling. After an hour or so, it was amazingly clear that my idea of the perfect wedding dress, was completely different from his. In my magazine, I had tabbed all the "Cinderella" style bridal gowns. Bucky, as my husband to be clearly spoke of his disgust for these types dresses. He hated dresses that featured a deep V'd waistline, because they created really poofy gathers at the hips. He said the look was ugly, because it made all the models butts look ten times bigger. The funny thing about it was, I personally thought all the kind of dresses, were the prettiest. Needless to say, I purchased a lovely sheath bridal gown, with a detachable cathedral length train. My bridal gown was made of raw silk, and had very little beading. I must admit, it looked spectacular on me! Bottom line, Bucky was right.

For that time and era, my dress was considered unique by all standards. Everyone at that time was wearing fairy tale dresses, which usually had big fancy bows sewn across the butt. In addition, most of these wedding dresses were also heavily beaded, and if that wasn't enough, most of these bridal gowns were made of an obnoxious, polyester, satin.

Therefore, the dress I selected was really different for that time period. You can imagine how unique I must have looked in my plain, straight wedding dress that was made out of hand spun, raw silk. From the gasps in the room, I would not have changed a thing.

To really showcase my new look, I also wore a bellowing tulled, Pillbox hat as my veil. My husband Bucky, cried through out the entire ceremony. He clearly thought I was the most beautiful woman in the world. That was a truly remarkable feeling.

I am honored and happy to be an idea source for you, buddy. My wife talks about renewing our vows and she wearing a dress and inviting her family this time. I love the idea. I think the dress would be the biggest reason it may not happen. I don't think she would find one that she think she can wear and that everyone else will think is pretty. I tell her that it doesn't matter, for truly it shouldn't but it does to her. So the date for the renewal gets pushed farther and farther into the future. Perhaps for our fiftieth, if there are any family left she would go ahead and pick one already. By the way, the ones you displayed, I had to pick a hint of shoulder because all the rest were well not feminine enough. I know that sounds silly because they all are fine specimens of womanhood and the dresses all showcase them well but a wedding is happy but solumn. It is fun but serious. A woman needs to be shown as a whole package, an entire person not just as a female partner. Each person is different and each is inspired to highlight a different aspect they feel is important. Is beauty important or is elegance? Is statuesque important or is voluptuousness? Do you want people to see you have wealth on the inside or outside? My wife was given me by God. How would I showcase this jewel? I have idea. She renders me speechless as she is, in an ordinary plain old day. How would I handle a day like a wedding? Poorly I believe. I will have enough to do by just not fainting on that day.

Please cast your vote, on my online poll. The male perspective is wanted here!

You are so right, we just assume the bride must decide, but what does the man have to say about the surprise dress. Most of them will perhaps just say it is beautiful, not to hurt feelings, after a dress was bought.

With my daughters still to be wed, I will keep this in mind. Thanks for the tip.

WHERE DO I FIND DRESS D?

IntimatEvolution 6 months ago

Sorry, I don't remember.

DO YOU REMEMBER THE DESIGNER?

IntimatEvolution 6 months ago

Okay, I found it online for you. It is a style from a couple of years ago. http://vancouver.canadianlisted.com/clothes/size-6 That link is for dress D. Now I don't know if they have the over-the-top piece, but, that's the dress.

The model number Badem, is a model number for the bridal company Pronovias. But Pronovias 2011-2012 dress is different. But this hub was written 2009-2010, so... Good luck. Try calling the company. No I don't have that information, but, I'm sure if I could refind this dress online again, that it won't be too hard to find the company's number. Good luck, and I hope the best for you.
