The wonderful thing about environmental causes is that, acquiring enough initiative to begin your own conservation projects, can begin at anytime. What makes conservation such an easy cause to commit to, is it doesn't take gigantic efforts to begin helping planet earth. Starting off slowly with baby steps, do just fine for this types of special causes. Giving a gift that gives back to the environment, is a lovely way to show someone just how much you care. By giving a gift like this is also a way to showcase the true reflections of your inner spirit. That's why taking the time to become crafty and creative, with any gift you plan to give, is always better than purchasing something off the shelf.

It is always a nice gesture to try to give a gift to someone, which reflects the recipient's convictions. Take my sister-n-law Terrie for example. She loves animals. So last year, my husband and I gave a donation in her name, to our local humane society. She went crazy over it! She was genuinely thrilled. Giving someone who is passionate about the environment, an earth-friendly or organic gift, is just another of making a contribution into that person's beliefs and convictions. I cannot think of another way to show someone- how much they're really appreciated for being who they are.

Earth-friendly gifts work well for people who are usually too busy with family life, work, or daily chores- who feel like they can't ever support a cause, because they cannot donate their time to it. Your sincere and earth-friendly Christmas gift this holiday season, will show that person, just how to go about doing something positive for a cause, such as the environment, in a new and inventive way. Maybe, just maybe- your Christmas gifts this year, will start a new Christmas trend for next year's gift-giving season, between all of you.

If you are not sure where to begin the hunt for earth-friendly gifts, try www.potterybarn.com. They have a complete department dedicated to environmentally friendly items for purchase, which would not only make great Christmas gifts, but they have some lovely ideas and items for purchase for someone getting married, housewarming or for someone celebrating another birthday.

If you are looking for a clever, kid-friendly, gift- this year, as part of my granddaughters Christmas surprises, I plan to buy them each a Green Giant Arborvitae pine tree , from the Arbor Day Foundation. Kids today love to be a part of something bigger than themselves, and this inexpensive gift, is just another way to provide that for them. It also a clever way to getting children on the right track of doing things for their community, and understanding the importance of giving back to the community, in which they live in. I selected the Arborvitae pine trees because they grow in my region, they grow 3'ft high annually, and they are extremely hardy, attractive trees. They are also safe for human consumption, which is something that definitely needs to be considered before giving a child a plant. Fortunately these trees fit all those kinds of needs for me that should be consider before giving anyone a plant, much less a child one, and plus they will look fabulous in my back yard. Kids love seeing things that represent a piece of them in your home; like a painting of theirs on your refrigerator. But with a tree, it is something that will be in your yard for them and all to see for a lifetime. And..., why not get'em something they will be sure to enjoy for a lifetime? I think it is a great way to show a child that they belong there.

This is one of many different ideas and ways for you to come up with an earth-friendly gift to give. Below you will fine a little pictorial slide show of some very inexpensive items that could easily be personalized, or creative touches added too. Merry Christmas everyone, and have a very Recyclable New Year!

I think your article was beautiful. Only one problem though, none of those gifts move, beep, buzz, kill pretend villians, or disrobe in any way. What can you do with that? It is just simple beauty that is eternal reflecting the creator of nature, a God that is eternal. Who wants that? It is not a gadget, or anything entertaining. Wow, if I thought that was any good I'd waste my time in an art museum, just looking at the paintings. How lame!... Anyway, you get the point. This is what humans should do, see the beauty in the simple things, like the author's picture on the top right corner of this article. Wow!! now THAT is beautiful. :)
