THE USO NEEDS OUR HELP!!! Let's take care of our own first!
THE USO NEEDS OUR HELP!!! Let's take care of our own first!

Dear American Soldier,

With the current situation in the Middle East, and the plight of the American people at the hands of our own government- I'm concerned as a mother and fellow patriot- as to why you're not concerned about us, the people, here at home. It is my personal feeling that you need to start asking yourself, why are you all really over there. Oil, perhaps? It's not for "democracy", that's forsure. If it was, then why burn the Qu'ran? Are they not allowed to have the freedom of religion, and the right to gather and protest? It is our right under the flag of democracy to embrace these natural civil liberities, yet they cannot be afforded the same respect..., on their own soil? Help me here, because I just do not understand how that can be. They are people, the same that we are, and they fight for their beliefs. The very same way you fight for yours.

I am the proud daughter of an US Marine Corp Veteran. My dad served three tours in the Vietnam conflict. Much like the situation you soldiers find yourselves into today, Vietnam was a vast wasteland of obstacles. Where you have to trample through dust storms and the harshness of the deserts, he waded his way through swamps, rice patty fields and marshes. Where you are faced with the daily task of mastering the heat of the Middle East, Vietnam's daily grind was your rainy counterpart. His days were filled with daily trudges through rotten, earth-filled, swamps and rice fields. As with the Vietnam conflict- you soldiers fighting in the Middle East, are fighting an ancient enemy that cannot be defeated. The peoples of ancient Sumeria, Persia, and Babylonia have fought and defeated stronger soldiers than you. But, I imagine deep down inside, you already know this. The men you face today, will stand against your barricade, while they systemically plant mustard seeds of doubt here at home. This seed of doubt will grow over time, as it did during the Vietnam conflict, and as history has already shown us before, this vine will eventually conquer and divide the nation you call home. Look at our nation now. It is hardly unified! It has already begun to happen. Is that what you're dying for? Is this what you must give your life for?

In Vietnam, my dad faced a soldier who had specially adapted their natural habitat, into a killing field. The Vietnam soldier honed their skills not by course work, or "Special-Ops training"- they honed their skills by living, breathing and fighting in wars- against their natural-born enemies. When a nation has built itself upon the broken backs of their loves ones, the skeletal bones of fallen soldiers, and the remains of their natural-born enemies; you meet an enemy who understands you better than YOU do. One does not fight back the varying factions of the mighty and vast Chinese armies for a millenia, without learning a thing or two along the way. The national pride and history of Vietnam, should have told the US commanders something back then, as it should now tell you something now. Which is that the same can be said of the Middle Eastern soldier you fight today. One does not just blow up parts of Pakistan, Iraq, Afghanistan or any other ancient land, without consequences. There are parts of Pakistan and Iraq that date back to ancient Sumeria. They have unexplainable written records, that date before the caveman. They have been fighting and engaging in gorilla warfare, before any other civilization was born. We did not invent warfare- they did! You cannot not continue to bully your way through the Middle East, and pretend that you are making headway. Burning the Qu'ran, is not making headway. So I ask, what headway..., real headway..., do you see yourself making over there?

Is there peace in that land?

Has there ever been peace in that land? Come home to the place where you can make a difference.

Just as it was in Vietnam, we could not defeat them then, and you will not defeat this enemy you face now. Come home, my beloved Marine, just come home.

I make this comparison with purpose. I want you to take notice to the recent past history of the US Marine Corps, and their missions. I mean, are they really all missions of freedom, liberty and democracy? How is the course of Democracy being used here in the Middle East? Let's take Iraq for example. Do you think having a puppet President in Iraq; who is so corrupt that he doesn't even acknowledge the general election results of his own peoples..., (or he would have honored their past election and stepped down from the presidency) a fair play at liberty? Is that how a proper Republic is to be run? Is that really what we went in and fought for- more corruption and tyrannical rule for the people of Iraq?

Please.

Furthermore, while your mother, father, wife/husband, children or siblings are here in the USA mainland- our own rights and freedoms are slowly are being diminished away. If it is not for the ruthless bombardment of over taxation of the American peoples, breaking our backs while we try to save............, or the idiotic mass confusion and broken down politics in Washington- you have all but left us here defenseless from the tyrants that rule over you. Why? I am sure you must realize, that we the people, are the ones who really are supporting you on the home front. It is our monies that support you. It is our volunteer work that makes your families lives easier. My family has fought in every war, since the Great War when my Great grandfather, Ernst Proctor, served as a army medic in France. I guess you can say, I write this letter to you from the heart of hearts of an American woman, who fully understands your situation. Experience I have gained, off my own personal hard fought investments made in American Patriotism. I implore you, my beautiful American Marine take notice to what is happening around you. Come save us, before the spoils of freedom are all but gone here at home. We, the sum of the American people, find themselves currently defenseless, beckon you, if not for us, then come home to save our Republic, and what civil liberties we yet still have.

Yours in patriotism,

PS) Don't forget to bring your guns.

Facing death is never easy. The task of military has taken men as early as recorded history goes and before that. Those left behind always scratch their heads in wonder about why the conflict happened in the first place. It has always been that way. There will always be those that agree with the risk to life and those that would never risk anything and just go with which ever power would tell them what to do. People are basically the same in these things no matter what era we speak of. Conflict will always happen until Jesus comes back to get us and rules the earth Himself. We grieve with the widows and moms. We mourn for the innocent people of the opposing country that are taken early because they happen to live where we fight. We have conscience and wonder if we know enough to use it in these situations. All us Christians continue to pray for our leaders and the peoples of the world whom Jesus said to speak to about Him. Great thought provoking hub Julie. I say again love ya lots.

All it took was one guy, Bush, who didn't do his duty in Vietnam to get us involved again. Those who don't learn from history are doomed to repeat it.
