Is this what it has boiled down too...., arresting the pope?

The other day while scanning unique profile accounts at Facebook.com, I discovered a remarkable profile titled Arrest the Pope. "Arrest the pope?", I said to myself.

"Are you freak'n kidding me?"

As I tried holding back the laughter, I immediately went searching for information on Google.com. Only to find out that I was a day late and a dollar short- as the old saying goes. However, I think you will still find the story to be quite intriguing, and the possibilities priceless. Arrest the Pope.......??? Now there is an idea to be shared.

I have to tell you that I was absolutely stunned, when I accidentally unearthed this popular story. The story centers around a wild-eyed Englishman, who had personal aspirations of finding a human rights lawyer, who would be willing to listen to his case against the pope. To my surprise, it seems rather apparent that this plan of Richard Dawkin’s, has been in the works for quite sometime now. Dawkin’s first came out publicly with his intentions against the pope, sometime last April.

From what I can gather, Richard Dawkins allegedly wanted to have Pope Benedict XVI arrested during the pope's scheduled state visit to Great Britain. Which just took place this September 18th, 2010. The original, Sunday Times online newspaper article, was first published April 11, 2010. Article author Marc Home, brilliantly advises his viewing audience of how Richard Dawkins, wanted to charge the Pope for crimes against humanity.

My response was, "Crimes against humanity? What on earth could he be talking about?"

The article goes onto to say that the atheist Dawkins, teams up with fellow atheist and author Christopher Hitchens, to make their case against the pope. The main charges facing the pope would be stemming from his apparent involvement, in the blatant cover-up attempt that was made by the church earlier this year and in recent years passed, over concern allegations of child sex abuse. Allegations I'll add that I personally think could've inadvertently led to the arrests of thousands of leading members of implied authority. Which essentially has Pope Benedict XVI at the top of that list.

Marc Home goes on to tell us that Dawkins and Hitchens were hoping to use the same legal principle used to arrest Augusto Pinochet, the late Chilean dictator, when he visited Britain in 1998. I could only imagine the legal ramifications if this legal loop-hole was exploited at the pope's expense. Wow, what a public nightmare that would have been. Although, I'm not saying doing nothing is a good idea either. But come on people, arrest the pope?

I wanted to bring this article to light for many reasons. I must admit that some of reasoning’s are quite personal, for their obvious high confrontational value of course. I mean, it doesn't get better than this people. If you want a reason to hate God, the Catholic Church and religion all together- it simply doesn't get better than this. On the other hand, if you were needing a platform to use against Atheists, and wacka-doodles in certain religious forums, well here it is.

You know this isn't the first time that a pope has found himself in the fore front of controversy. Matter of fact, it is not even the first time a pope has faced a possible arrest for alleged criminal activity. One of the most controversial persons to have ever lived, was none other than Pope Alexander VI. Better known to some as Rodrigo Borgia. Whose family's seedy past, just landed itself a top spot on the lucrative Showtime network, to air sometime in 2011. Whereas Borgia was nothing more than a murderous white collar criminal. Pope Benedict XVI's only crime has been his own idiotic approach to the twenty first century. I not sure if that type of crime is a punishable offense.

Some might say that child abuse, has been a mainstay in the church since its inception. What angers me the most is that people are just now getting upset by it. Where were our ancestors principles of merit a hundred of years ago? Why wasn't the pope arrested then? Why only now is this irreversible behavior now being talked about, counseled on, and openly disgusted among reasonable people? More importantly, why is it only being centered around the Catholic church? More children are sexually abuse by their mother and fathers, or someone they most likely know; than there are catholic school age kids. Why haven't men like Richard Dawkin's been leading a charge against any sexual abuse period? Why is it only now in this hour, that they finally take their buried heads out of the sand? Because it was a priest(s)? Please......., child abuse is child abuse. Rape is rape and God has nothing to do with it. If you're going to stand for something, then by GOD, take a stand for it.

Sure all the hoopla over the latest scandals, will most likely help curved sexual abuse by priest for the next decade; but, you are a bigger fool than I if you think it has curbed it for the ages. Men have the basic instinct to breed. It a lustful, primal instinct that God himself created. If God didn't want priest to have sex, don't you think he would have done something about that years ago? Why we don't just stick to Jesus Christ's teachings is beyond me. Furthermore, how we expect nuns or priests to live their lives without the feel and love of sexual intercourse, is a crime against human nature and essentially a crime against God.

I'm not a catholic and I can understand the anger against the Catholic church, but I don't think the Pope has personally done anything to deserve being arrested for.

Some people will stop at nothing to get in front of the camera and have their 15 minutes of fame.

Petra, I couldn't agree more. Apostle Jack, well yes I would also have to agree with your insightful opinion that poor leadership causes negative outcomes. One only needs to take a look at the church. Rob, yeah he might have not been the abuser, but, he sure has been a loser. I know this is terrible, but, I've been crossing my fingers just praying he will soon vanish into thin air. He has been horrible.

Nobody can tell me that the pope had no knowledge of the many priests sexually abusing children. They, above all, including the pope, should be held accountable. They put themselves in such high esteem so that makes them worse than the average Joe who sexually abuses. They are supposed to set the moral standards. Who can a child turn to now? You cant trust anyone. The catholic church has always been a good hiding place for perverts, criminals, and sickos. As I've said before, I wish the pope would follow Jesus all the way to the cross and get up on it and die too.

Thank you! I too think that..., but for some reason team hubpages thinks that this hub is too confrontational. I really didn't think it was all that confrontational. Go figure! But thank you so much. You've made a new friend.

New friends are great ...

Imagine a hub that satires networked confessions straight to the Vatican, courtesy of Microsoft ... imagine access to a database like that ...
